Wavefront lasik
Wavefront is actually an older technology that is ingeniously being applied to laser eye surgery for better diagnostic and tracking for the ablations for lasik. Wavefront was first used by astronomers to create a better image from telescopes. This allowed the astronomers the ability to correct for the natural changes in light as it passes through the atmosphere.
An easy explanation is to apply how earth's atmosphere changes light so do the various visual systems in the human eye. Imagine there are 10 small pen laser lights that are projecting a straight light into your eye, only your eye distorts the lights and they appear crooked.
Refractive eye surgery corrects what causes the changes in the light resulting in crisp image. Wavefront appears to be the best way to have lasik. Results have displayed that the laser can diagnose and measure the smallest aberrations that no other lasik system can even see. Furthermore, as more procedures are completed on Wavefront systems the statistical background of more surgeries means that a better outcome is more likely.
The use of the star 4 is not always necessary if your prescription is relatively low the doctor may recommend going with a traditional lasik system. This results in a lower cost and the results will most likely be the same. The interesting thing about vision correction surgery is that it only takes a few minutes, and with Wavefront you don't even have to have your eyes dilated when the optomap system is used.
